And if you've been a long-time reader of this site, you'll see that my activity dips a little (or a lot) during the spring months. Again, it's no slight, just typically my down time after a busy fall & winter sports season.
But this spring sports season seems a little different, and the combined success of the spring teams has a lot to do with it. You could argue that never before has the baseball, softball and track programs, combined, gotten off to the successful start that they have this year....and people (and bloggers) are starting to take notice.

The Orrville junior is currently the 2nd leading scorer in Orrville girls history (1380 points) and is also a THREE-TIME All-Ohioan. She was a 3rd team selection as a freshman and has earned first-team honors each of the last 2 seasons. No Orrville girls player (and maybe boys, too) has earned 3 All-Ohio honors in a high school basketball career, let alone 4. Hannah has that chance next year. That in itself is a pretty amazing feat.
The Zips were 14-18 last year and 7-9 in MAC play under head coach Jodi Kest.
Hannah will join big sister Hillary (Volleyball at Austin Peay) as a Div. 1 scholarship athlete.
I believe she will be the 7th lady Red Rider to play basketball at the Division 1 level joining Libby Ladrach (Robert Morris), Dawn Woodruff (Liberty), Keri Simmons (Marshall), Rhonda Winters & Stacie Howard (both played at Ohio State) & Nancy Shie (Ohio U.). Of that group, I believe only Simmons, Woodruff & Howard played more than 1 season at their respective school.
Congrats Hannah & the entire Plybon family. What an accomplishment to celebrate.
