Apparently there's an OCC All-Sports Title

Why don't we hear more about this? I think I know....because we (Orrville) has never won it.

Since the inception of the league in school year 2003-04, only Wooster (once) and Lexington (5 times) have won the All-Sports title.

Will the outcome be any different this year? I have no idea. But there's one way to find out.

Get out your calculators, kids.

I'll use my own system since I have no idea how it actually works.  I've found that it's always better to assume.

I'll also only use sports that have all 8 OCC teams competing.  That means no women's soccer or swimming.  I'll use OCC tournament results for cross country & wrestling.

Lastly, we'll use the 1-8 scoring method.  If a team wins their conference, they get 8 points, all the way down to 1 point for last place.

Let's roll.

Football
Ashland - 8 points
Orrville - 7 points
Clear Fork - 6 points
Lexington - 5 points
Wooster - 4 points
Mansfield Sr. - 3 points
Mansfield Madison - 2 points
West Holmes - 1 point

Volleyball
Lexington, Orrville & Madison - 7 points (3-way tie for OCC title)
Wooster & West Holmes - 4.5 points each (two-way tie)
Ashland - 3 points
Clear Fork & Mansfield Sr. - 1.5 points each

Soccer
Lexington & Clear Fork - 7.5 points each (two-way tie for OCC title)
Ashland - 6 points
Mansfield Madison - 5 points
Wooster - 4 points
West Holmes - 3 points
Mansfield Senior - 2 points
Orrville - 1 point

Girls Tennis
Lexington - 8 points
West Holmes, Wooster & Orrville - 6 points each
Ashland - 4 points
Clear Fork - 3 points
Mansfield Madison - 2 points
Mansfield Senior - 1 point

Cross Country (using results from OCC meet only)
Lexington - 8 points
Ashland - 7 points
Wooster - 6 points
West Holmes - 5 points
Orrville - 4 points
Mansfield Madison - 3 points
Clear Fork - 2 points
Mansfield Senior - 1 point

Golf
Ashland - 8 points
Wooster, Lexington, West Holmes - 6 points each
Clear Fork - 4 points
Mansfield Madison - 3 points
Orrville - 2 points
Mansfield Senior - 1 point

So after fall sports, we have Lexington leading the way.
1. Lexington - 41.5 points
2. Ashland - 36 points
3. Wooster - 30.5 points
4. Orrville - 27 points
5. West Holmes - 25.5 points
6. Clear Fork - 24 points
7. Mansfield Madison - 22 points
8. Mansfield Senior - 9.5 points

Moving on to winter sports.

Boys Basketball
Mansfield Senior - 8 points
Orrville & Wooster - 6.5 points each
Lexington - 5 points
Mansfield Madison - 4 points
Ashland & Clear Fork - 2.5 points each
West Holmes - 1 point

Girls Basketball
Orrville - 8 points
West Holmes - 7 points
Mansfield Senior - 6 points
Mansfield Madison & Wooster - 4.5 points each
Lexington - 3 points
Clear Fork - 2 points
Ashland - 1 point

Wrestling
Lexington - 8 points
Clear Fork - 7 points
Wooster - 6 points
West Holmes - 5 points
Mansfield Senior - 4 points
Mansfield Madison - 3 points
Ashland - 2 points
Orrville - 1 point

Lexington strengthens it's lead heading into spring sports.
1. Lexington - 57.5 points
2. Wooster - 47.5 points
3. Orrville - 42.5 points
4. Ashland - 41.5 points
5. West Holmes - 38.5 points
6. Clear Fork - 35.5 points
7. Mansfield Madison - 33.5 points
8. Mansfield Senior - 27.5 points

With Clear Fork off to strong starts in baseball and softball, the standings could tighten up.  Only seven points separate 3rd place from 6th place.

Lexington is looking like a lock for it's 6th straight title.  Unless one team sweeps the three spring sports, it's the Minutemen's to lose.  Their consistency across all sports is impressive.  So far, they've not finished in the bottom half of the league in any sport except for girls basketball.

Wrestling, golf and soccer hurt the Riders.  A mid-pack finish in those three sports put us right near the top.  I guess I'll take a top 4 finish among schools that are much bigger than us.  No shame there.

So this was fun.  It's truly a slow period in blog-ville.
