OHSAA State Track Wrapup

Seven OHS track athletes headed to Columbus this weekend and six returned as All-Ohioans, highlighted by Stewart Turner's trifecta of All-Ohio honors (Long jump, 100m dash, 4x200 relay) and Drew Brenner's double All-Ohio effort in the 300 hurdles & the 4x200 relay.

Pretty amazing accomplishment for Stewart and just as impressive of a junior season for the speedster. His efforts this past weekend should no doubt open the eyes of some college scouts, if they haven't been already by his work on the football field this past year. He was one of just three underclassmen to run in the 100m finals, so he'll have his shot again next year.

Joining Turner & Brenner on the 8th place 4x2 relay team was senior Tre Simpson and freshman Joel Zook. Pretty interesting that 3 of the 4 legs of that team will be back next year and I'm sure will have their sights set a little higher.

Senior Sam Reusser capped an amazing senior season with an 8th place finish in the shot put, earning him All-Ohio honors in track to go along with his All-Ohio honors in wrestling. Toss in captaining the 2010 football team to a state semifinal appearance and you have a year for the ages. Not too many kids get All-Ohio in a single sport, much less in two sports in the same year. Congrats to Sam & good luck at Case Western in the fall.

On the girls side, junior pole vaulter Alexa Jarrett finished 5th and will be a clear favorite to return to Columbus in 2012. Along with All-Ohio honors, she was named the Ohio Cardinal Conferences Female Field Athlete MVP for 2011.

Here's the complete results from the boys and girls division 2 state meet. Orrville district champ Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary was your team champion with Orrville finished 16th with 10 team points.

Congrats to all seven Red Riders that earned their way to the state meet this weekend.  And to the seniors of the group...thank you for your hard work and dedication, and good luck in the future.

Should be some photos from the weekend pop up here in the next few days.

So I guess it's officially football season, no?  I'll just leave this here.

Programming Note:  Got a few items of note this coming week.  I know we're getting into summer, and we tend to get away from the computer a bit (which is good) but keep checking back.  Wont want to miss either of these.  Trust me.
