Orrville alum leads Ft. Loramie to Div. 4 Regionals

Back to football in a minute......

John Rodgers (OHS Class of '86) is in his 3rd year as head volleyball coach at Ft. Loramie High School in Shelby County. His Lady Redskin team won their 2nd straight district title this past weekend, beating Riverside DeGraff in 4 games, snapping their 17 match win streak in the process
They will take on state powerhouse (and #1 ranked) Maria Stein Marion Local this Thursday at 6pm in a regional semifinal constest.  The game will be held at Vandalia Butler High School (directions here if you want to make the 3 hour drive!!).

Their region is stacked, along with Marion Local, they also have Lehman Catholic (Sidney) and Jackson Center.  All 3 teams finished in the top 12 of the final OHSVCA Coaches Poll.  So all it's going to take is beating 2 of the top 12 teams in Division 4 to earn a trip to the state tournament....but if you're the unquestioned underdog...all you have to do is go out and have fun and shock the world.  No one will remember them if they lose, but nobody will forget them should they pull the upset.

Coach Rodgers is 46-22 at Loramie after spending several years as an assistant at the Univ. of Akron, he also coached for several years in the Orrville program as an assistant to Coach Shanklin. Fort Loramie has won 6 district titles this decade, and 8 overall.

The game with Marion Local will be broadcast online, click here to access the game.

Good luck Coach Rodgers and the Redskins.
